Please refer to the Flavor Chart. Depending on the milling rate, type of rice, brewing traditions, aging techniques, and the climate, SAKE flavor can lie anywhere in the Chart. Where a particular type of SAKE lies on the Chart will determine the purpose for which the brand is consumed.
For example, highly "FRAGRANT" and "REFRESHING" SAKES are generally recommended for aperitifs, or to be consumed with appetizers or light affairs. On the other extreme, "LOW FRAGRANCE" and "FLAVOR RICH" SAKES are strongly recommended to accompany more hearty foods such as BBQ's, stews, and pastas with rich sauces.
